The arrests of the larger part of the political leadership of HDP, Turkey’s 3rd largest party in Parliament, is a flagrant violation of Turkey’s democracy by the country’s authorities. UEL demands immediate release of those arrested last night and calls upon the Council of Europe to put all possible pressure on the Turkish authorities to end its witch-hunt in which all those who do not support President Erdogan, are under most severe danger of being arrested and convicted for pure political reasons.
