NUPES, the New Ecologic, Popular and Social People’s Union, has won an important victory at the first round of parliamentary elections in France. It is a historical event, demonstrating that the unity of the left can be victorious against the dominance of neoliberal orthodoxy. It inspires the whole Left in whole Europe, as we see in our confederal group of the Unified European Left in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where we hope to welcome soon, possibly next October, the victorious French left, after the second round and final composition of Parliament.
Warm congratulations to all our French comrades and especially to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for his great leadership and good luck for the second round.

NUPES, la Nouvelle Union populaire, écologique et sociale, a remporté une victoire importante au premier tour des élections législatives en France. C’est un événement historique, démontrant que l’unité de la gauche peut être victorieuse contre la domination de l’orthodoxie néolibérale. Ce grand succès, sous la direction de Jean-Luc Mélenchon, inspire toute la gauche dans toute l’Europe, comme nous le voyons dans notre groupe confédéral de la gauche unifiée à l’Assemblée Parlementaire du Conseil de l’Europe, où nous espérons accueillir bientôt, peut-être en octobre prochain, la gauche française victorieuse, après le deuxième tour et la composition définitive du Parlement.
Félicitations chaleureuses pour la victoire des camarades français et en particulier à Jean-Luc Mélenchon, pour son grand leadership et bonne chance pour le deuxième tour.
