The UEL Group follows carefully the developments of anti-government protests in Ljubljana, Slovenia and urges the authorities to respect human rights, opposition and journalists.
UEL Member Violeta Tomic (Levica, Slovenia) says “Thousands of Slovenians are accusing the government of corruption and of using the COVID-19 pandemic to increase police power, tighten control of some media, and weaken standards of environmental protection.”
The UEL Group calls on governments to not misuse the COVID-19 pandemic and to safeguard human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
