UEL Chairman Mr. Kox participates in informal meeting of the Modern Left in Iceland

Representatives of left parties from European countries met in Kevlavik, Iceland, to informally discuss actual developments and possible alternatives from the left. Amongst the participants were UEL Chair Tiny Kox (Netherlands), UEL Vice Chair Nikolaj Villumsen (Denmark) and UEL member Jonasson (from hostcountry Iceland). The ongoing armed conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, the refugee flows they cause, the lack of comprehensive answers from Europe and the need for left international cooperation and solidarity played a major role in the debates in Kevlavik. UEL Chair Kox proposed to also use both the structures of the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to continue these most relevant discussions.
